Kevin and I were discussing the other day how we would like to go to a "good 'ole" Fourth of July parade. After looking on the internet, I thought I had found one. We hauled ourselves out of bed early enough this morning to get around in time to drive the 30-40 minutes up to where the parade was supposed to start at 10:00. I'll skip past all the details but I'll just say - we never saw a parade. We know we were in the right location but there wasn't a band or firetruck in sight. Kevin even called the [non-emergency number] police station to see if they knew anything. The lady said that there were no officers in our county dispatched at any parades. We didn't have anything else to do and we had driven all that way so we just stopped by the mall (it was just opening) and wandered around for a bit. We're still not sure what happened because we looked up the info. again when we got home and it even said 2008. We ended up doing an impromptu picnic. I had taken some stuff to snack on (chips and cookies and stuff) and a cooler with drinks so we ended up using a buy one get one free coupon for a sub place in Stuart and then we took our stuff to a park. It was quite enjoyable so I guess all was not lost. We came home and relaxed/napped for a bit then we went to the church bash and then on to see fireworks. I have separate posts for each of those activities. These pictures are from our little picnic.
Kay slept most of the way up to the non-parade, the
whole time we were in the mall, while we got the subs,
and most of the time we were eating at the park.
Once she woke up, we got a few pictures.
I realized when we got dressed this morning that both
she and I had butterflies on our "patriotic t-shirts".
