vacation log - Sunday, 11:50 p.m.

We were so happy to get here after such a long trip! When we were going through NC, the van started acting funny. We could tell the gears weren't shifting up and down and the rpms were very high and that was only going about 45 mph. After pulling off an exit in Asheville, NC and going to a garage at a Saturn car lot we ended up with a strange but effective fix. Rod talked to a friend who suggested disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes (it had worked for him before). It sounded odd but I think if someone would have told us to do a dance on top of the van to fix it we would have been desperate enough to try it. One of the guys at the garage had already reset the computer so that the check engine light would go off. As we were pulling out of the parking lot we could already feel the difference because you could hear the gears changing. It was fine for the rest of the way (about another hour and a half) and has been fine in that aspect every since. Now we just have to get the power steering fluid to stop leaking. It had a slow leak when we left but we made it up here without too much issue with that. Now we are leaving puddles and trails and putting more fluid in once or twice a day. Well, I am going to post this and get the next set of pictures loaded. (So tired right now!)

After we unloaded the first load of stuff, Kay-Kay
got to ride on the cart.

With entertainment this good, who needs
other attractions!

This is a shot looking into the dining/living
area of our place. It is quite nice!

love the rustic looking fireplace. reminds me of a place we stayed in TN once. I feel horrible you are having so many issues with the van. Who would have known. We never had this many issues at once with a vehicle. Hope your enjoying your time otherwise. It's getting black here and ready to rain once again. Have fun, your week will fly by. And eat some yummy southern breakfast's for me. Do love those pancakes and biscuits and gravy!Tell Kevin the fort is being held down and will still be here when he returns.
