Animal Kingdom - Part 2

More pictures from Animal Kingdom:

This is Joy and Kaelyn (if you couldn't tell - they're kind of far away) heading into Asia.

Joy giving Mama a ride around Asia on a rickshaw.  (Not really.  These are just for looks as part of the theming and also fun picture spots.)

And speaking of Asians, we pretty much all took turns getting our pictures riding the bike, riding in the carriage, etc.  Probably about two of you will "get" the Asian reference/joke I just made here.  :-)

The next three pictures are from the Kali River Rapids ride.  Mama, Kaelyn, and I were wimps and wore rain ponchos.  Joy, on the other hand, enjoys walking around the park soaking wet so she just braved the elements and went poncho-less.  :-)

All of these pictures were taken right at the beginning or end of the ride so the camera was in the water proof pouch in the middle the rest of the time (for those of you who were worried about that).

This way to Kali River.  I like what some of the signs say:  "You may get soaked; you WILL get wet!"

After Kali River Rapids, we headed back to the Maharajah Jungle Trek to see the Tigers and some other animals.

This thing should NOT be real in my humble opinion.  I would FREAK OUT if I ever saw a komodo dragon in the wild!

Ha ha!  Great picture!!!  :-D  You might have to enlarge the picture in order to read the sign and get what she is doing here.

Oh yeah, and besides the komodo dragon, there are bats on the Maharajah Jungle Trek .  While they are freaky too, they are kind of fascinating as well.  These particulare bats are fruit bats.  What I was trying to capture in this picture was the bat eating the watermelon on the trees.  Not sure if you can really see the pieces of watermemlon but I thought it was kind of interesting.  Mama LOVED this part of the trail.  She could have stayed in there all day and watched the bats but we had to drag her on to see something less cool, like the tigers.  ;-)

My Kay-Kay.
Someday, I may tell you all about losing her on this particular day when she wandered off to get a closer look at some apes.  *SIGH*  Not today though.

These two animals were NOT in the same enclosed area - if you were wondering.  :-)

Isn't she pretty?

The last few times that we have been to Animal Kingdom, we have watched this young ape and we have gotten to see him grow so to speak over the months. This whole island of white cheeked gibbons is just one family.  There is the father and mother, an older sister, and the little guy here.  He's not technically a baby anymore but he's still pretty little and oh so cute, especially when you see him near his daddy and realize just how little he still is.  The first time we saw him, he was with his mommy the whole time and wasn't climbing around on his own.  He rode on her back or she held him.  Now he gets around quite well.  He's still a bit clumsy at times but he always manages to catch himself if he misses when he makes a jump.
