We started our weekend with Friday being the last day of school for Kay-Kay. We have 3 or 4 weeks off and then she starts a summer program at the school. It is only Mon.-Thurs. and from 8:00-12:30 during July so it's not quite as intensive as her regular school schedule. On a sad/depressing note, Kay's teacher has enough years to retire this year so she has not made her decision whether she will be back next year. God has opened so many doors and led us in the right direction with Kaelyn so far so it's not so much that I am worried that she won't have a good teacher next year, but I just don't like change because I'm quite sentimental. Kaelyn is automatically back in the same class next year but now we're not sure if she will have Ms. Marilyn again. I have no doubt that her replacement would be great because all of the ESE staff at the school that work in the autism classes are just fantastic from the occupational & speech therapists to the classroom aides. But we're praying that Ms. Marilyn will teach at least one more year before she retires, though I'm sure she has earned it (her retirement). She is just fantastic and Kaelyn absolutely LOVES her!
Friday evening found us and the Brown's doing a little celebratin' at Chili's for Jessie's graduation. Then we saw that the movie UP was playing AND in 3D. Kevin and I had both read great reviews about the movie. Even WORLD magazine (the Christian version of US NEWS) gave it great reviews as a wholesome family movie and goodness knows there aren't a lot of those these days. So we had already discussed going to see it and when we saw there was a 3D version we talked Browns into going with us. Well... okay, we didn't really have to do that much talking. :) We all wandered around Wal-mart until it was time for the movie to start. It was a late night but I think we all enjoyed ourselves - dinner and the movie.
Lastly, we put a pool up for Kaelyn. We bought it more than a year ago with great intentions and well, you know how great intentions go. We're having difficulty explaining/understanding why we're not going to school anymore so we thought maybe having a "fun activity" to do would help. Kevin drug it out and filled it up Saturday. I wasn't really planning on having her get in it at the time but once she saw it, there was no waiting. So THAT was our weekend and HERE are the pictures:
Kay-Kay and Ms. Marilyn
Kay-Kay and I in the classroom. (For those of
you who may be interested - what you see in the
background is each child's name and picture
schedule. They have a picture for each activity
in their day. That helps them to transition
from one activity to another more easily.)
Zach and his root beer - Chili's
Kaelyn entertaining herself.
Andrea also entertaining herself while we waited for
our food.
Waiting for the movie to start.
Meg in her cool 3D glasses.
You would've thought we had never worn 3D
glasses before the way we were all carrying on. :)
What a fine lookin' bunch we are! :)
Ridiculous - absolutely ridiculous!
The pool was even more fun because the water
from the hose was running pretty much the
whole time she was in the pool because it takes
a while to fill it up.
Kevin put it by this tree which actually
makes it quite a bit more shady and it
will give me a place to sit in the shade
and watch her.
Love this one!
The great daddy who cut back branches,
mowed the spot, set the thing up, and drug
the hose around the house to fill it up. :)
you look carefully you can see the heel is halfway
up the back of her leg.) Actually, she only wore them
for the novelty of Tink being on them because she
doesn't like the feeling. When she went to show them
to Kevin, she was walking like she was crippled and
couldn't walk right. Kinda' funny actually.

LOVE the picture of you and Kae at school, but I have to admit the one of the two of you with the 3D glasses on makes me think of some funny old cartoon or something maybe miss piggy. Don't really know why, it just makes me laugh! :-)
I know - I agree! :)
Awe, great pictures! DId you ever get your slide?
No Rach, not sure what to do about that. We decided the one at Wal-mart was way to short. She would have been in the water just sitting down on it. She played out there again yesterday for more than an hour and a half.
